When a 12-year-old biking home from school died in my neighborhood under a school bus last year, the community rose up in outrage and sympathy. The flowers are mostly gone now from the main sidewalk memorial, but two ghost bikes stand at the intersection and a faced sign. I can’t even imagine the grief the family will carry for the rest of their lives. Her name was Summer Lim and I

Wishing you all a meaningful Memorial Day. My name is Sunil Dasgupta and I am running to be one of three state delegates in Maryland's State Legislative District 19 in the Democratic primary. I know it can be hard to distinguish candidates within the same party. But look closer. One of my opponents has raised nearly 85 percent of their money from outside Maryland, with some contributors giving $6,000 each. That’s Maryland’s max allowed limit. I don’t know anyone well enough who can afford to w

Yesterday, the BOE cut 415 positions in MCPS. With the number of cut-lists floating around it is difficult to parse out what exactly is being cut. The latest cut-list was even less clear as it offered categories rather than specifics. But a few things are clear. First, nearly 40 percent of the cuts (158 by my calculation) were unfilled vacant positions. 118 positions were part of a plan to put a Special Education Resource Teacher in each elementary school. Similarly, 28 security assistants and

Figures cover domestic political ads paid in dollars, from 4 May 2026. Spend is the sum of Meta’s range midpoints; impressions above one million are reported as “1M+”, so impression figures are floors. Each ad counts in the week its delivery started, with its lifetime spend at our last pull; ads still running before the vote are counted as of 31 October 2026.
