151,986 salmon. That’s how many Chinook and chum have been wasted by industrial trawlers operating in Alaska over the last 8 months alone. As sport and subsidence fishers are sidelined by salmon fishing closures, Nick Begich has yet to take real action against a problem that keeps getting worse. The consequences of his inaction keep piling up. The wasted salmon keeps piling up. It’s time we demand better from our representatives.

Is Big Trawl good for Alaska? It’s not just that trawling is wasteful. Economic benefits are concentrated among a small number of companies, with substantial ownership, profits, and labor income flowing out of the state. When Big Trawl wins, Alaska loses. It’s high time for Sen. Sullivan and Rep. Begich to stop letting Big Trawl continue its PR campaign.

Alaska's fish belong to Alaska's families, not Seattle trawlers. While our families get fewer salmon, Big Trawl keeps throwing millions overboard. Sen. Dan Sullivan and Rep. Nick Begich could take real action, but haven’t. It’s time to demand better from our politicians.

It’s all in the public record. Dan Sullivan took hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Big Trawl. Dan Sullivan has been in office for 12 years. After more than a decade’s worth of wasted salmon has piled up, Dan Sullivan finally proposed a bill that still doesn’t take enough real action on bycatch. Alaskans are tired of talking about the problem. Alaskans are ready for solutions to stop Big Trawl. Is Dan Sullivan?

Figures cover domestic political ads paid in dollars, from 4 May 2026. Spend is the sum of Meta’s range midpoints; impressions above one million are reported as “1M+”, so impression figures are floors. Each ad counts in the week its delivery started, with its lifetime spend at our last pull; ads still running before the vote are counted as of 31 October 2026.
