  • Mike Naig has been Iowa’s Secretary of Agriculture for eight years. Before that, he worked as a lobbyist for Monsanto. Now, PACs and powerful agricultural interests are pouring money into his campaign. Iowa’s water is still polluted. Our cancer rate is the second highest in the nation. How much longer are we willing to accept the status quo? It’s time for a change. Chris Jones is a scientist who has spent his career studying Iowa agriculture and water quality. • Alex is 39 and his colorectal cancer is back. Iowa has the second-highest cancer rate in the country, and it's still rising. I've spent my career studying Iowa's water and fighting for clean water. Corporate agriculture has been making the profits. Iowans like Alex are left paying the price. • For decades, politicians have promised to clean up Iowa's water. Instead, we've gotten band-aids, voluntary programs, and PR stunts. It hasn't worked. Our rivers are contaminated, and cancer rates are climbing. The only winners are the corporate agricultural polluters. We have an agricultural system that too often protects powerful corporate interests while leaving farmers, taxpayers, and Iowa families to deal with the consequences. A vote for me, Chris Jones, is a vote for clean water.

  • Iowa’s water is polluted. Cancer rates are climbing. And farmers are being squeezed by the same system that’s failing the rest of us. Corporate agribusiness has too much power. Politicians in both parties have lacked the courage to challenge it. I will. I’m Chris Jones. I’ll work with farmers, follow the science and fight for clean water for Iowa.

  • Iowa has a farm tile problem. As we started our Des Moines River Tour, we saw dozens of tile outlets draining nitrates and pesciticides directly into one of our drinking water sources. Dumping pollution directly into our water source isn't a good idea. And we may have millions of these outlets across Iowa. We don't really know because we don't keep track of them.
