• There is nothing Jewish about just studying Torah. Our history proves otherwise: throughout the generations, Jews combined Torah with broad education, science and knowledge. Above all, they worked for a living and defended their families. This culture, in which an entire community lives without general education, without a livelihood and without taking part in defending the homeland—there is nothing Jewish about it. It is a profound distortion of Jewish values. The attempt to turn this distortion into a Basic Law is a slap in the face to the public that serves and works, and above all—a great disgrace to Judaism. Pride in Judaism means combining book and sword, education and work. Not hiding behind political deals.

• There is no money for the IDF. But there is money for the coalition. This is not just distorted priorities. It is a political choice. The IDF is one of the clearest expressions of sovereign Judaism: mutual responsibility, defending the state and responsibility for the public as a whole. When there is less money for those who defend the state and more money for political agreements, something has gone wrong with the state's priorities. The IDF is a source of pride for Judaism.
