• Staff Sergeant Nezer Itkin, of blessed memory, was a graduate of the Salt of the Earth pre-military academy. A lone soldier who immigrated from Ukraine, he studied and was educated at Aloney Yitzhak Youth Village and chose the Salt of the Earth academy because he wanted to prepare for combat service and connect as fully as possible with Israeli society. Nezer was known for his constant smile, alongside dedication, investment, and seriousness in everything he did. During the Iron Swords War, in the ground incursion into Lebanon, Nezer fell while serving as a fighter in the Egoz Reconnaissance Unit. The Salt of the Earth academy chose to establish a new branch in Kibbutz Kalia, in the northern Dead Sea region, in his name, both as a tribute to him and his family for his sacrifice for the State of Israel, and to commemorate his path — the life
