• Yokneam is the love of my life. Whenever I look at our city, I am filled with pride, but lately also with a deep sense of responsibility, because there are moments when we must not remain silent. The decision to raise residential property tax by an exceptional 10%, alongside an increase in the security levy, is a wrong decision that harms families, young couples, pensioners and small businesses first and foremost. The truth must be said clearly: Yokneam residents are not the municipality’s ATM. Yokneam has one of Israel’s strongest industrial zones, bringing enormous sums into the municipal coffers every year. • You pay more and get less. At the last council meeting concerning approval of the support-budget plan, I could not remain silent. It is unacceptable for the city administration to take out loans of 50 million shekels and raise your property taxes, while at the same time cutting the beating heart of our community—the support budgets for sports, culture and youth movements. While the cost of living is soaring, our role as elected officials is to have your backs, not turn our backs on you. Public-relations politics on social media is no substitute for leadership that truly cares about residents and the services they receive. Watch the video with my remarks from the meeting. • Yesterday, at the council meeting, we discussed Yokneam municipality’s budget for 2026. On paper, there are many numbers. But in reality, one story is clear: the city is moving away from its residents. Over the past two years, the municipality’s payroll expenses have swelled by about 30 million shekels. More positions, more roles, more consulting—but when it comes to the services themselves, those that affect our day-to-day lives, we see cuts and freezes. When you understand the truth behind the numbers, they are simply hard to digest. Support for youth, students and culture has not increased for three years. The community-center budget—the heart of the community—was cut by about half a million shekels. The budget for women’s status has been frozen since 2017
