• Today, as millions of students return to school, all our eyes are on new beginnings. But what about those for whom this is their final year in the system? The reality on the ground shows that 12th grade suffers from a deep structural gap. Matriculation exams end early, many students lose their way, and only around 12% go on to a year of service or a pre-military academy. In a new opinion column I published this morning in ynet, I call on the state to act: complete formal studies in 11th grade, and turn 12th grade into a year of preparatory study and social action for all of Israeli society. We need this move to build resilience, identity and genuine mutual responsibility

• This morning I had the privilege of taking part in Ramat Gan municipality’s preparation conference for the 2026–27 school year, before some 500 dedicated education professionals. Warm congratulations to Mayor Carmel Shama-Hacohen and incoming head of the Education Department Limor Markenson-Segal for leading an outstanding and groundbreaking education system, and warm regards to our partners at Holon municipality. The panel addressed the two most pressing questions today: 1️⃣ Recruiting and retaining quality teachers: We must change the narrative from “sacrifice” to a “leadership incubator”—position teaching as an elite program for developing management skills, and move to a modular model of a 70% position alongside one free day for research and development
