• This is a personal post, from the heart: Even at the largest protest demonstrations, there were moments when I stood at the police station waiting for detainees to arrive and wondered whether there was any point to this. It could happen when they suddenly brought in a minor in handcuffs, contrary to regulations, or an older person dragged along the road by police officers, and I received them with a torn shirt and a look that said, how did we get here? It happened on the day the six hostages were murdered, when I told myself: enough, how much more can we take of this indifference to human life, this cynicism, this pain? I have worked on human and civil rights all my life, and the past few years have been so bad for people, citizens and rights. They kept saying

• Saturday night thoughts. For three years now, I have not been home on Saturday nights. Not one Saturday night. I missed one protest—I had a fever of 39°C. But even then, when they called me to say there were detainees, I took two Advil and went to the detention station. When the pills began to work, I started sweating; the protesters outside the station looked after me and brought me a cup of water. It was a small moment of kindness amid many difficult moments on those Saturday nights. • The arrest of Dr. Udi Beharav was a shocking event even for me: he was arrested violently and brutally by a Border Police officer while treating a protester lying on the road after that same officer pushed her. A policewoman around 20 years old attacking an older doctor while he is treating someone? Dr. Beharav was of course released; it was a false arrest, like thousands of other arrests I have handled in recent years.
