• The Self-Employed and Freelancers Forum was established at the height of the COVID crisis, out of a reality in which hundreds of thousands of self-employed people were left without a safety net, without certainty and with zero protection from a crisis whose end nobody knew. We have been fighting for this ever since. The “push-button” procedure was established so that compensation for businesses would not depend each time on ad hoc decisions, but would become an orderly mechanism that the state is obligated to activate when businesses are harmed. So that in every future crisis, the self-employed too will have the certainty that they are protected—that they are not the only people in the labor market completely exposed to the crisis’s economic harm.
