• “A child is a child is a child,” Justice Yael Vilner said yesterday at a High Court of Justice hearing. About a year and a half ago, petitions were filed regarding budgetary discrimination between state education and state-religious education, demanding that the budgets be equalized. The petitions were filed, among others, by the Council for Hebrew State Education, the Manor Center, the National Parents Leadership, the State Education Watch, the Berl Katznelson Foundation, and Knesset members Gilad Kariv and Vladimir Beliak. In response, the state acknowledged that the disparities exist and confirmed that students in state-religious education receive more funding than students in state education, and that the funding system itself requires correction.
