• Although the Security Council resolution does not pave the way to a Palestinian state, it certainly paves the way for a strategic alliance between Saudi Arabia and the United States. The resolution expresses the Saudi interest, wrapped in Trump's plan and Israeli consent. • Haaretz’s Arab affairs correspondent, Jackie Khoury, addresses the deep leadership crisis in the Palestinian arena. In an opinion column (Haaretz, March 18), he offers a realistic analysis of the bankruptcy of Palestinian leadership across all its factions, but fails to draw the necessary conclusions and offers no idea on which alternative leadership could be built. Instead of pointing to creative lines of thought, he returns to the Hadash and Balad example, according to which there is no substantive difference between the current Netanyahu government and the forces opposing it. • In light of Trump’s speech in the Knesset and Netanyahu’s U-turn, the question is what the opposition has to offer. Continuing to praise Trump as solely responsible for the hostage deal only plays into Netanyahu’s hands. Trump has made his choice, while the opposition remains without a vision and abandons its liberal worldview by supporting Trump.
