  • The truth? It pains us to see couples give up on a traditional Jewish wedding just because they do not want to deal with the Chief Rabbinate. Because there is no reason to. Yes, a wedding—like any religious ceremony—has rules and religious laws, but there are also many adjustments that can be made to hold a Jewish wedding ceremony that meets all the requirements while still expressing your values and identity. And most importantly—without coercion. Our wedding officiants are rabbis and female halakhic authorities who are well versed in Jewish law and know how to find solutions for almost any request from a couple. They will do so gladly, because it is your wedding and you should feel comfortable at it.

  • Apparently, the Chief Rabbi of Israel does not understand that no institution owns Judaism. Yes, the state can fund and make religious services accessible—but it cannot replace the community in setting the rules of Jewish law. This is true of ritual baths, kashrut—and marriage too. You are invited to listen to the new episode of “Between Sacred and Law,” in which Tani Frank, director of the Center for Judaism and State at the Shalom Hartman Institute—and yes, also a member of our board of directors—makes sense of the recent uproar. 🎧 Listen: https://open.spotify.com/episode/5DvQTNOajL8U Shalom Hartman Institute Tani Frank

Tani Frank

  • Starting your degree this week? There is a course you should not miss We have noticed a phenomenon that recurs from time to time in introductory meetings: when we ask, “How did you hear about us?”, one of the partners says they heard about us during their law degree. In family law courses, we are presented as an alternative to the state of marriage and divorce in Israel—and rightly so. After studying in depth what divorce in the rabbinical court looks like—what happens when things start to go wrong, who has the power to end the marriage, and what it means to be refused a Jewish divorce—getting married through the Rabbinate suddenly no longer seems exciting as the default option. And yet, they do not give up on a wed

  • A reminder: choice is an essential part of serving God and of every stage of Jewish life. For anyone who chooses to immerse, the ritual bath is a place of holiness, renewal and prayer. No woman should fear being judged, shamed or humiliated there, whether it is before a wedding or not. The role of rabbis is to accompany and guide people with respect—what do you call those who embarrass and shame women in a sensitive place such as a ritual bath? You tell us. The choice of how, and whether, to immerse is in your hands.

Figures cover domestic political ads paid in shekels, from 1 October 2025. Spend is the sum of Meta's range midpoints; impressions above one million are reported as "1M+", so impression figures are floors. Each ad counts in the week its delivery started, with its lifetime spend.
