  • #MIDA wants a water park at Jordanelle... and another promise of affordable housing? 🤨💦 So #MIDA has created the massive Mayflower development—and now they’re here to “rescue” us with affordable housing plans? 🤨 How about making sure the people who work here can afford to live here BEFORE approving the resort growth that needs their labor? We've all heard this sales pitch before. Affordable housing that doesn't materialize and the developer keeps the profits. We lose the tax revenues. W

  • **The traffic stays here. The demand for water stays here. So why does decision-making keep moving away from us?** MIDA’s Wasatch County project began with roughly 40 acres in 2012. On March 1, 2023, my opponent, Erik Rowland, voted yes to amended agreements that placed additional land near Mayflower under MIDA’s land-use control. KPCW reported that the county handed the state agency control over roughly 70 acres—**an area 75% larger than MIDA’s original Wasatch County footprint. That was a c

  • Don't believe the developer narrative for Wasatch County! We don't have a housing crisis. 20%-25% of homes in Wasatch county are either AirBNB's or secondary homes. That's a BIG chunk of our housing supply. We have an affordability crisis where developers do not follow through on delivery. 👎 An affordable-housing promise should last longer than the meeting where it wins approval. If a developer’s commitment helped secure a yes vote, a later amendment should not make those homes disappear. M

  • 🚧 Transportation 101—No one wants to admit to this. Building a bypass can change more than traffic patterns. It can change what happens to the land around it. 🌾 That’s Transportation 101—which is why UDOT’s own bypass study documents this concern: some North Fields routes could disrupt farming, accelerate subdivision, and increase pressure for development and road access. The study’s meeting notes also describe pressure to allow higher density between the bypass and city limits. Access res

  • **If MIDA and the mega resorts create the demand, they should deliver the housing.** 🏠 You cannot plan thousands of visitors, luxury accommodations, and a workforce to serve them—and leave the surrounding community to figure out where those workers will live. 💰 They should not be allowed to maximize their land’s profit potential with luxury development while leaving the local community to find the land—and foot the bill—for housing their workers. Workforce housing should be part of the proj

  • **The State is Self-Cannibalizing Itself — and Taking the Wasatch Back With It** Park City. The Canyons. Deer Valley. Mayflower. The resorts sell the snow. Developers sell the mountain lifestyle. Both depend on the same thing: water. Yet the growth cashing those checks is putting more pressure on the water that makes it all possible.
