When you feel powerless, it can seem like nothing anyone can do will make a difference. But real change never comes from violence; it comes from organizing your community, speaking up, voting, volunteering, and persuading others. Thank you @doss.discourse for reminding us that it’s much more powerful to create things than break things.

We have to stop treating political disagreement as permission to dehumanize people. You can be angry. You can fight like hell politically for what you believe. You can think the other side is completely wrong. But political violence is a dead end. Important take from @david.pakman reminding us that you can stand up for what matters to you without turning to violence.

Figures cover domestic political ads paid in dollars, from 4 May 2026. Spend is the sum of Meta’s range midpoints; impressions above one million are reported as “1M+”, so impression figures are floors. Each ad counts in the week its delivery started, with its lifetime spend at our last pull; ads still running before the vote are counted as of 31 October 2026.
