  • I love the city of Gallatin and that is why I am running for Mayor of Gallatin. My professional and personal life has been spent as a public servant in both the private sector and the Army Nurse Corps working as a nurse/nurse practitioner for over 45 years. I have a doctorate in Nursing Practice and a master’s degree in Education. My experience in problem solving, crisis intervention, education and planning/research has given me knowledge that can be used towards the position of mayor of Gallat

  • Let's talk about Infrastructure. It's not just roads and water lines. Infrastructure includes what I call “human infrastructure”, our Gallatin city employees. Retaining and valuing the people who make our city run smoothly is very important to me. My Practical Solution: Prioritize our city employees “Human infrastructure”. I support the work our employees are doing as they are vital to workings of the city. Retaining and valuing the people who make our city run smoothly can be done with pay ra

  • Let's talk about Apartments. Gallatin's growth should benefit the citizens of Gallatin, not cause them heartburn. How did we get to a point where we have too many apartments and more coming soon, with high density residential development popping out of the ground like mushrooms on every corner? I think that we have city leaders that are more concerned with Nashville, and with the special interest groups, and out of town developers who only see our land as a cash register. I will not sell out t

  • Let's talk about Parks, Soccer and Sports. We have many nice amenities with our Parks and Recreation Department, but when it comes to some sports, we can improve. Our kids are travelling to other cities to play soccer, when we could be hosting the teams here in Gallatin. Parks are important and we shouldn't have to wait years for these facilities to be built, soccer shouldn't be put on the back burner. My Practical Solution: I will support our youth with more investment in our parks system. We

  • Let's talk about Out-of-Control, Irresponsible Growth. In my discussions with the public there are two common questions that are asked: “what are we going to do about the traffic? How can we stop the apartments and all this construction?” People are angry, concerned, and feel left out. The concern of how do we keep Gallatin from becoming a mini-Nashville. How do we fix this? Please see my post from October 6 about traffic. Regarding the growing pains, see below. My Practical Solutions: I will

  • Let's talk about Traffic and Potholes. Our roads are in disrepair, and we have poor infrastructure capacity that is not ready for our rapid, high-density development. We have been putting the cart before the horse, and the result is Gallatin has a traffic problem. My Practical Solutions: I will substantially increase the annual city road paving budget (which has been essentially stagnant for decades) and require the repaving budget to meet actual needs based on road miles in the city. I will i
