  • I oppose large data centers in Mitchell County. I want us to establish protections before a developer tries to build. As commissioner, I would push for a moratorium on large data centers while the county considers appropriate land-use protections through a public process. People deserve to understand what a proposed development would mean for their community and have a meaningful say before decisions are made. Read my platform: https://jeremywiseformitchell.org

  • If you want to know more about me and what I would work toward as commissioner, I’ve brought that information together on my website. You’ll find my background, experience, and positions on housing, public services, Flock cameras, data centers, and public involvement in county government. There’s voting information there too. https://jeremywiseformitchell.org

  • I want to share again why I'm running for Mitchell County Commissioner. I've been working since I was sixteen. My first job was at the KFC/Taco Bell here in Spruce Pine. After high school, I went to Western Carolina University because I wanted to become a music teacher, but I had to support myself. Working full-time while going to school eventually got to be too much. Discouraged, I dropped out and kept giving 110% to work. For a while I worked two jobs. Later I tried going back to school (st

  • I want the Flock cameras removed. I’ve spent months reviewing records, organizing with others, and bringing concerns about these cameras before the commissioners. My position is clear. As commissioner, I would vote against renewing the county’s Flock contract and push for the cameras to be removed at the earliest lawful opportunity. I also support requiring a separate public Board vote before the county funds or contracts for any future vehicle-tracking system. People should have a meaningful

  • What I’m proposing: Housing repair and reuse I want the county to pursue a housing repair and reuse program, using grants and local partnerships to help make existing homes safe and bring vacant properties back into use as affordable homes. The details matter: available funding, repair costs, eligibility, and how participating homes would remain affordable. Those questions should be worked through publicly before funding commitments are made. Read my platform: https://jeremywiseformitchell.or

  • What I’m proposing: Public services as budget priorities Public schools, EMS, and disaster readiness are among my priorities for the county budget. I want budget discussions to explain what proposed funding would provide, what needs remain unmet, and what service changes residents should expect. Careful spending means understanding both the cost of providing a service and the consequences of leaving it underfunded. Read my platform: https://jeremywiseformitchell.org
