THE FIVE POINTS INTERSECTION IN THE HISTORIC FIVE POINTS BUSINESS DISTRICT IN DOWNTOWN ALBEMARLE..... THE LAST "POINT" OF THE INTERSECTION TO COMPLETE THE WESTERN GATEWAY TO DOWNTOWN IS TO REHABILITATE THE FIVE POINTS BUILDING. The Five Points Building has been vacant since Five Points Cleaners and Discount Variety closed in 2007. The 1925 building is on the National Register of Historic Places. To preserve that listing, what can be done to the exterior is limited without a complete rehabilita

OUR HIGH PROPERTY TAX RATE MAKES IT SO EXPENSIVE TO LIVE IN ALBEMARLE…. …OUR HIGH PROPERTY TAX RATE NEEDS ATTENTION NOW!! Last year, the Governing Body (that's the elected City Council & Mayor) didn't reduce the tax rate after property revaluation. For Mellanie and me that equated to a 36% property tax INCREASE. Usually following revaluation of property the Governing Body will adjust the Property Tax Rate downward to produce a revenue neutral budget. That sure didn't happen by the Governin

IT'S NOT ABOUT THE CANDIDATE WHO MAY PAY FOR THE MOST OR LARGEST CAMPAIGN SIGNS TO BE PUT OUT... ...it's about the Candidate willing to listen and to represent you after the election!! I've tried my very best to communicate my thoughts on issues about Albemarle both here on Facebook and by other opportunities. IS YOUR ELECTRIC BILL FROM THE CITY OF ALBEMARLE HIGHER OR LOWER THAN IT WAS IN 2015…. ….before I go further, I appreciate the dangerous and hard work of the dedicated employees in the Electric, Street, Water and Sewer Departments at the City of Albemarle!! The May 4th, 2026 City Manager’s Budget Letter to the City of Albemarle’s Governing Body (the Governing Body is the elected City Council & Mayor) concerning the proposed City Budget for this year states: Electric Fund FY 26/27 The Electric

OUR STREETS ARE HORRIBLE… EVEN THOUGH ALBEMARLE HAS ONE OF THE HIGHEST PROPERTY TAX RATES IN NORTH CAROLINA we, surely, must rank at the top for the worst City Streets in North Carolina too. These rough City Streets are not a problem caused by the City Public Works Department and its dedicated personnel but a funding problem from the Governing Body which is made up of our elected City Council and Mayor. The August 2026 City Newsletter boosts of $1.3 million dollars being included in this year

WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE TO LIVE IN ALBEMARLE?? Put a check for our Stanly County and City of Albemarle Property Taxes in the Drop Box behind the Courthouse Friday. My City of Albemarle Tax Bill has been on my mind ever since! Last year, the Governing Body (that's the elected City Council & Mayor) didn't reduce the tax rate after property revaluation. For Mellanie and me that equated to a 36% property tax INCREASE. Usually following revaluation of property the Governing Body will adjust the Pr

Figures cover domestic political ads paid in dollars, from 4 May 2026. Spend is the sum of Meta’s range midpoints; impressions above one million are reported as “1M+”, so impression figures are floors. Each ad counts in the week its delivery started, with its lifetime spend at our last pull; ads still running before the vote are counted as of 31 October 2026.
