Protect your mail ballot. Make ballot questions easier to read. Vote YES on 85 and NO on 84

The Denver Post editorial board ran this year's ballot questions through a readability test. Proposition NN scored at a post-doctorate level. Their take on Amendment 85: "We think this is a good idea." 85 requires every ballot question to be written at an 8th grade reading level. Yes on 85.

Yes on 85. You shouldn't need a lawyer at the kitchen table to understand your ballot. Amendment 85 puts every ballot question in Colorado at an 8th grade reading level. It changes nothing about what any measure does. It changes whether you can read the question before you answer it. #Colorado #Denver #ColoradoElection #VoteColorado"

Yes on 85. A former CDC scientist on the ""dumbing down"" argument: the American Medical Association, the NIH, and the CDC all recommend that information written for the public be at an 8th grade reading level. Colorado has had some of the hardest ballot questions in the country (at a 27th grade level?!), and even with this year's plain-language law, more than half of our measures still require 13 years of education to read. The question isn't whether an 8th grade standard dumbs down the ballot.

Figures cover domestic political ads paid in dollars, from 4 May 2026. Spend is the sum of Meta’s range midpoints; impressions above one million are reported as “1M+”, so impression figures are floors. Each ad counts in the week its delivery started, with its lifetime spend at our last pull; ads still running before the vote are counted as of 31 October 2026.
