I've thought for a long time that the Charleston City Council is too large. I've also said that the Kanawha County Commission is too small with only three. The first in this campaign I can have a say, the latter is my opinion. With 26 members, council is cumbersome and expensive. We talk about cutting government then lets talk about reduction is size of the 7th largest city council in the United States. I would support an examination such as candidate Brian Hunt mentioned to reduce council

Part-time workers pay $3.00 to the city for the streets. If someone works a concert at the Charleston Civic Center for a load out (approximate $88.00) they get charged $3.00 for that one night of work. Why should they have to pay for part-time work? Someone works full-time 40 hours (for arguments sake $480) that $3.00 isn't fiscally depleting as much. Why should our teenagers pay for streets when they are in high school? It would be a reasonable step to wean the city off the fee.

Much of my work is archaeology. I'm used to getting my hands dirty and screening though the soil to get the artifacts. Data and research that lead to answers is something I do alot.

Historic Preservation preserves buildings. It also brings in tourism and conventions as people do like old structures. We've lost many older buildings and resources by accident and intent. The city also lacks its own museum and archives depending on the state, the library, and private non-profits to carry the weight. Preservation brings economic development.

Figures cover domestic political ads paid in dollars, from 4 May 2026. Spend is the sum of Meta’s range midpoints; impressions above one million are reported as “1M+”, so impression figures are floors. Each ad counts in the week its delivery started, with its lifetime spend at our last pull; ads still running before the vote are counted as of 31 October 2026.
